This was a memory inspired film project which aimed to help people explore their cultural identity through a series of film shows about Camborne’s industrial past. Holmans was a giant in the development of mining technology employing, at its height, some three and a half thousand people. The Holman Collection consists of 160 reels of archive footage, predominantly produced by Holmans of Camborne.
The Holman films were shown at public events in the Camborne area during February and March 2010.
Over one thousand people attended the events. Originally three film shows were planned but a further two events were necessary to satisfy demand.
Selected films included extracts ranging from the 1940s to the 1960s.
The events attracted extensive coverage from local, national and international news agencies.
